Engineering Team of Ocean Connect Maldives (OCM) have successfully completed a 10-day training program on Type 'C' Jointing Powered System. The training took place at the OCM Cable Landing Station (CLS) and was conducted by certified trainers from SubCom.
OCM is preparing to provide services through a globally recognized submarine cable system in the Maldives, which is being designed and installed by SubCom, a renowned party in the subsea cable industry.
The Type C training focused on land cable jointing techniques for powered submarine cable systems. It covered SubCom-approved Fiber Optic and Power Cable Joints, which is used to connect the marine optical cable from the beach manhole to the land cable termination equipment in the Terminal Station.
The training encompassed various aspects related to submarine cable joints, such as Fiber Cable Termination, Fusion splicing, Fiber Cable End Preparation for Triport Splice, Shielding, and Grounding. Throughout the intensive program, the Engineering team gained invaluable knowledge and hands-on experience with powered cable systems. They also learned about the latest techniques and methodologies for repairing and maintaining undersea cables, ensuring high-quality connectivity for the growing digital infrastructure in the Maldives.
The successful completion of the Type C training program demonstrates Ocean Connect Maldives' preparedness to undertake complex undersea cable projects and support the increasing demand for reliable and high-speed internet connectivity in the Maldives. As the nation's dependence on digital communication continues to expand, the company's skilled Engineering team will be well-equipped to handle any challenges that may arise, guaranteeing uninterrupted connectivity for businesses, institutions, and individuals across the Maldives.
